The health and well-being of your pet is as always, our top priority. As news of the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to develop, and as our country and province strive to protect us, we are monitoring the situation closely.
At this time, our clinic remains open and is operating under regular business hours.
While the CDC and other health authorities have indicated that dogs, cats, and other domestic animals are not considered at risk for contracting COVID-19, we are taking extra precautions to ensure the health and safety of humans within our facilities— notably our clients and staff.
If you are ill or experiencing flu-like symptoms and have an upcoming appointment, we kindly ask that you call us to reschedule. If your pet requires urgent care or has a medical emergency, and you are ill, please arrange for a trusted friend, neighbor, or healthy family member to transport your pet to our hospital. If you call ahead, we will gladly accommodate your representative and make appropriate arrangements.
If you have a pet emergency, please call our hospital at 902-457-1575 prior to entering the reception area. We want to ensure there is space for our clients while maintaining the recommended social distancing. Please know that you can call the front desk to check in when you arrive at the clinic and wait your car until you and your pet are ready to be placed directly into an exam room.
We routinely clean and disinfect our exam rooms between each patient and have increased cleaning frequency throughout the hospital. As this takes additional time, we will be adjusting appointment times to accommodate and reduce wait times in our reception areas as much as possible. For the next several weeks at least, we ask for your understanding as we may ask that you postpone appointments such as vaccines, annual exams, or other services that are not urgent in nature.
Online appointment scheduling has been suspended while we work through these changes.
Our staff will cease direct client physical interactions (i.e. handshakes, sitting next to clients while reviewing paperwork/having conversations) and will practice social distancing of 1-2 m. Please do not bring additional people with you to the appointment to avoid congestion in the waiting area.
We are hopeful that these steps remain reasonable and proactive but in the event of increasing concerns of COVID-19 spread or changing Health Canada recommendations, our protocols may alter.
